Prvi del druge knjige predstavi glavne skupne strukture in procese v sodobni svetovni politiki.

Ti problemi so vsebina globalizacije in imajo veliko različnih oblik. Toda z globalizacijo so temeljno povezani še nadaljnji problemi, kakor so terorizem, globalna trgovina in finance, človekove pravice, človeška varnost, revščina, razvoj in lakota.
