Knjiga Mobilni telefon in transformacija vsakdana se ukvarja z naturalizacijo uporabe mobilnega telefona v vsakdanjem življenju ter s povezanostjo tega fenomena s širšo transformacijo izkustva časa in prostora. Zbrani prispevki po eni strani analizirajo prispevek mobilnega telefona h kulturi takojšnosti ter nove oblike oblastnih razmerjih, ki jih vključuje nenehna dostopnost, po drugi strani pa habitualno uporabo mobilnih telefonov v vsakdanu obravnavajo v kontekstu širših sprememb vsakdanjega življenja in komunikativnih praks. Znotraj tega okvira se različni avtorji lotevajo različnih vidikov družbenih in kulturnih sprememb, povezanih z mobilnim telefonom: s tehnološkim, političnim in družbenim kontekstom, ki je oblikoval prihod mobilne telefonije v Slovenijo; z vzorci in rituali vsakdanje uporabe ter z vprašanjem, kako telefon strukturira vsakdan in spreminja ustaljeno distinkcijo med javnim in zasebnim; s spreminjanjem rabe pismenega jezika v SMS-ih pri mladih uporabnikih; z novimi oblikami nadzorovanja in hkrati osvoboditve, ki jih prinaša telefon.
Avtorji izhajajo iz predpostavke, da telefon in druge kulturne tehnologije niso le tehnična orodja, temveč pomembno konstituirajo referenčni okvir našega izkustva, oblikujejo »strukturo občutenja« in določajo razmerja moči v postindustrijskih družbah. Posameznikova dostopnost, prisotnost, slišnost in vidnost oz. nedostopnost, neslišnost itd. so vedno umeščene v oblastna razmerja. Ali kot pravi eden od avtorjev: »V takšni družbi je individuum zasut z avdiovizualnimi znaki, obenem pa je tudi sam avdiovizualno na voljo tako rekoč vsem in vsakomur.«
