Znanstvena monografija z naslovom »Sodobna upravna misel« obravnava po eni strani razvoj in kritiko klasične misli o upravi (klasične teorije upravljanja), po drugi strani pa analizira različne sodobnejše pristope k upravljanju, pomen upravne misli in procesov upravljanja v sodobnem globaliziranem svetu, nove paradigme upravljanja in nove pristope k proučevanju in raziskovanju upravljanja in upravljavskih procesov ter nenazadnje tudi krizo upravljanja v sodobnem trenutku. Avtorja nekaj prostora namenita tudi razmisleku o terminoloških nedoslednostih v moderni upravni znanosti ter odpirata razpravo o tem kaj novodobni menedžerski pojmi pravzaprav pomenijo ter kako jih v upravni znanosti uporabljati. Poleg novodobnih pristopov se posvetita tudi poglavitnim vprašanjem, s katerimi se srečuje javna uprava v demokratičnem sistemu kot so legitimnost, sestavljena iz legalnosti in politične kontrole, ter učinkovitost, ki zajema strokovnost in sposobnost. Javna uprava mora biti vključena v proces demokratizacije države zaradi zagotavljanja participatorne demokracije, ki mora prevladati nad avtoritativno vsebino birokracije. Taka javna uprava odpira nove komunikacijske kanale in nove oblike javne participacije ter z odpiranjem novih javnopolitičnih prostorov znotraj javne uprave omogoča izvajanje demokratičnih načel. V knjigi avtorja razčlenjujeta in analizirata poglavitne teoretične modele, na podlagi katerih se je v preteklosti razvijala, se dandanes razvija ter se bo po njuni viziji v prihodnje razvijala upravna znanost, predstavljata različne opredelitve in pristope k proučevanju teh modelov, analizirata kritične prispevke ter vse skupaj zaokrožita s vprašanjem mesta in vloge uprave v sodobnem globaliziranem svetu, vprašanji e-uprave in e-upravljanja ter vloge uprave v sodobnem demokratičnem procesu.
