Vrednote v prehodu V. je dokument iz obsežnega longitudinalnega sociološkega projekta Slovensko javno mnenje (SJM) 1968–2012. Medtem, ko prve štiri knjige podajajo vpogled v rezultate v časovnih presekih in na nacionalnem vzorcu, odpira ta knjiga nov, mednarodno primerjalni pogled na zbrano gradivo iz ene najpomembnejših mednarodno primerjalnih raziskav: Evropske družboslovne raziskave (ESS) 2002–2010. ESS se je uveljavila kot najpomembnejši družboslovni empirični vir v prostoru Evropske unije. Raziskava ESS je vsled svoje metodološke konsekventnosti in tematske širine še posebej pomemben in aktualen vir za raziskovanje sveta vrednot sodobnih Evropejcev in znotraj njega vrednot Slovenk in Slovencev. 

V tej knjigi so podani prikazi rezultatov raziskav ESS v Sloveniji v medčasovnih primerjavah 2002-2010; dalje, prikazani so rezultati raziskave ESS 2008 v mednarodnih primerjavah, v obsežnem poglavju knjige so prikazane ožje tematske raziskave, ki dopolnjujejo projekt ESS 2002-2010 v mednarodnih primerjavah – in končno so prikazani rezultati zadnje letne meritve ESS 2012. V knjigi Vrednote v prehodu V. je torej zbrano pomembno družboslovno podatkovno gradivo, ki zadeva osrednje teme in dileme v razvoju sodobnih evropskih družb. Dostop do raziskave ESS je sicer odprt preko omrežja družboslovnih podatkovnih arhivov, s to knjigo pa vzpodbujamo poseganje vanj. Gradivo v knjigi ni namenjeno zgolj raziskovalcem-sociologom, temveč tudi analitikom in razmišljevalcem v širokem naboru družboslovnih strok.
