Pričujoči učbenik o oborožitvenih sistemih nedvomno predstavlja manjkajoči komplementarni člen v strnjeni verigi slovenske učbeniške literature s področja oborožitvenih sistemov. Predstavlja osnovne značilnosti dosedanjega razvoja oborožitvenih sistemov z razčlenitvijo in opisom dejavnikov, ki so vplivali na njihov razvoj, ter s prikazom implikacij oborožitvenih sistemov na celotno vojaško področje. V prvem poglavju so predstavljene definicije vojaških orožij in proces integriranja orožij z novimi vrstami streliva, optronskimi namerilniki, daljinomeri, računalniki, programskimi svežnji t. i. umetne inteligence (ang. Artificial Intelligence-AI) in dosežki informacijsko-komunikacijske tehnologije (IKT); v drugem je predstavljena klasifikacija oborožitvenih sistemov s pomočjo različnih meril; v tretjem so opisani življenjski cikli oborožitvenih sistemov od trenutka, ko gotovi izdelki zapustijo tovarne, do trenutka, ko jih je treba – zaradi zastarelosti – umakniti iz uporabe; v četrtem so predstavljeni dejavniki, ki vplivajo na konceptualizacijo in nadaljnji razvoj oborožitvenih sistemov; v petem poglavju so predstavljeni zametki vojaškotehnične revolucije, ki se pospešeno nadaljuje v tretjem tisočletju, posebna pozornost je namenjena obravnavi kibernetskega prostora kot nove razsežnosti sodobnih konfliktov in vlogi informacijske tehnologije na vojaškem in obrambnem področju; v šestem se pojasnjeni možni načini nabave oborožitvenih sistemov; v sedmem so opisane faze in etape razvoja oborožitvenih sistemov od dozorevanja koncepta prek izdelave in preizkušanja prototipa do serijske proizvodnje in njegove prodaje na mednarodnem trgu; v osmem poglavju so predstavljena tveganja pri razvoju oborožitvenih sistemov, ki so podkrepljena s predstavitvijo nekaterih neuspešnih projektov in vzrokov, ki so te neuspehe povzročili; v zadnjem poglavju so prikazane spremembe, značilne za začetek tretjega tisočletja, v katerem so vidni obrisi nove etape vojaškotehnične revolucije, ki jo mnogi izvedenci označujejo z novo skovanko »robotična revolucija« (ang. robotic revolution)
