Ker prvi del učbenika Sodobni oborožitveni sistemi že podrobneje predstavi osnovne značilnosti življenjskih ciklov oborožitvenih sistemov ter etape, faze in implikacije revolucij na vojaškotehničnem področju, se je pri študiju obramboslovja pojavila potreba, da se v obliki učbenika poglobi še znanja iz vojaške balistike in teorije streljanja. V knjigi avtor najprej opredeli temeljne pojme, temu pa sledijo štiri ključna poglavja: notranja balistika, prehodna balistika, zunanja balistika in ciljna balistika, v kateri so poleg zakonov, ki veljajo za raztros izstrelkov, prikazani tudi razvoj in dosedanji dosežki togotelesne in životkivne balistike. Sledi predstavitev osnovnih dosežkov teorije streljanja, s poudarkom na analizi napak, ki se pojavljajo pri streljanju in dokazovanju njihovega vpliva na verjetnost zadetka in verjetnost uničenja raznovrstnih ciljev. Zakonu uničenja ciljev sledijo predstavitve optimalnih načinov streljanja, s katerimi se zagotavlja učinkovito streljanje na stacionarne in premične posamične točkaste, površinske in skupinske cilje. Z oporo na zakone Kolmogorova, ki veljajo pri streljanju na raznovrstne cilje, so v zaključnem poglavju prikazane osnovne značilnosti matematičnega modeliranja bojnih delovanj, v katerih se upošteva obojestranski učinek ognja na izgube akterjev oboroženega boja. V tem sklopu so predstavljeni številni primeri rešenih problemov, v katerih so uporabljene Lanchesterjeve in Dinerjeve enačbe.
