Monografija prinaša tako znanstvene novosti kot tudi nova empirična spoznanja o teokracijah, še posebej o talibski teokraciji v Afganistanu, ki so relevantna tudi za oblikovanje javnih politik. Za teoretizacijo dejavnikov, ki vplivajo na nastanek in propad teokracij je dragoceno empirično raziskovanje na podlagi širokega nabora virov v mednarodnem merilu in terensko delo v Afganistanu, ki ne kaže le na pomen domačih dejavnikov nastanka in propada teokracij, temveč v veliki meri tudi na pomen zunanjih dejavnikov (svetovnih in regionalnih geopolitičnih iger ter interesov mednarodnih korporacij). Monografija opozarja na to, da v zadnjem valu globalizacije ne prihajajo v krizo le obstoječi modeli vladavin v nacionalnih okvirjih in poskusi izvoza nacionalnih modelov upravljanja družb iz enega dela sveta v druge dele sveta, temveč se oblikujejo tudi nastavki alternativnih modelov globalne vladavine. Ob velikih negotovostih so se že v preteklosti ponujale teokratske oblike vladavine, prav nič drugače ni danes. Avtorja pokažeta religijske razsežnosti vladavin v imenu boga, a jih tudi umestita v domače in mednarodne družbene in politične kontekste. Pridružujeta se oceni (Khatab in Bouma, 2007: 24), da je poenostavljena razlaga temeljnih družbenih nasprotij in konfliktov kot religijskih nasprotij in konfliktov nevarna. Med zagotovili za znanstveno korektno raziskovanje je ozaveščanje lastnih ideoloških leč in predsodkov. Upata, da sta pri svojem raziskovanju uspešno ozavestila svojo evropocentristično (zahodnocentristično) pristranost in jo kritično presegla.
